In perfect competitive conditions last Thursday afternoon, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys track and field team went out last Thursday afternoon and took out Utica Proctor.
The boys Northstars had to go to Utica, but it dominated its contest against the Raiders, winning by the score of 119.5-21.5.
Four different CNS stars had double wins. Ty Howington got it going, as he took the 110-meter high hurdles (15.6 seconds) and adding a top time of 1:02.4 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Elsewhere on the oval, Nathan MacNabb held off Proctor’s Doug Mondrick to win the 800-meter run in 2:03.9 and also finished first in the mile in 4:55.6.
Over in field events, Andy Kahl cleared 6 feet 4 inches in the high jump, then put up a top triple jump of 40 feet 9 inches, ahead of teammate Eric Munoz (38 feet 5 inches). Munoz did with the long jump, going 19 feet 8 inches.
To cap it off, Dan Minahan swept the throwing contests, tossing the discus 115 feet and prevailing in the shot put by going 44 feet 6 1/2 inches.
In a competitive pole vault, Craig Barber (11 feet 6 inches) edged out Eric Sykora (11 feet) and Dillon McKee (10 feet), while Kevin Cusworth took the 3,200-meter run in 10:44.5. Tony Rogers tore through 400 meters in 52.3 seconds, while Devin Young won the 200-meter dash (22.8 seconds) and was second to Proctor’s Andre Washington in the 100-meter dash in 11.5 seconds.
CNS swept through the 4×100 (44.8 seconds), 4×400 (3:44.7) and 4×800 (9:12.7) relays as Young, Cusworth, Ben Brown, Charles Haven, Brandon Marlow, Jake Whritenour, Mike Flume, Shaun Hyde, Mike Velasco, John Smith and Matt Perkins all participating.
Back at Bragman Stadium, the CNS girls team got a stiff challenge from Proctor on many fronts, but still beat the Raiders 87-54.
Jasmine Thompson and Monique Roberts dueled each other in the 100-meter high hurdles, with Thompson (15.4 seconds) holding off Roberts (15.5 seconds) in front.
Roberts later cleared 5 feet 3 inches in the high jump, just as Thompson went 35 feet 2 1/2 inches to win the triple jump. Valerie Langevin contributed a win in the discus (95 feet 5 inches) as Casey Wilmer won the shot put with 30 feet 11 inches.
McKaye Neumeister was also productive, winning the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.7) after taking the 400-meter dash in 1:01.7. Neumeister also teamed with Alicia Greco, Brittany Capsello and Leigha DeStefano to win the 4×400 relay in 4:18.3. Greco, Nicole Campagna, Christina Sakowski and Lauren Spink had a time of 9:59.1.
In other track events, Lindsay Raulli needed 11:04.7 to prevail in the 3,000-meter run, as Lauren Spink took the 800 in 2:30.6. Taylor Wendler, in 4:56.1, was second to Proctor star Heather Vroman (4:54.1) in the 1,500-meter run.
