While the coronavirus pandemic continues, social distancing hasn’t stopped Canton Woods Senior Center from reaching out to seniors in Baldwinsville.
The Canton Woods Book Club plans to meet in the center’s pavilion at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 (weather permitting). The book selection is “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” by Marie Semple. Start reading and join the lively discussion.
Avid readers might also be interested Canton Woods’ upcoming library day. Our librarian, Lorraine Melita, will be working in the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Lorraine will be accepting any books you wish to return and will provide you with books to take out. The exchange will happen outside the building. Arts and entertainment
Canton Woods Art Group is proud to be having a show at the Baldwinsville Public Library! Their work will be on display throughout the month of August. Call the library for more information at 315-635-5631.
It’s never too late to unleash your inner artist. The Art Group will meet outdoors, weather permitting, at the Canton Woods Senior Center pavilion at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. Start your piece for next year’s art shows!
Our favorite local Baldwinsville musician, George Leija, will perform on the grounds at Canton Woods at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20. Please bring your own lawn chair, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Fitness classes
Tai Chi has resumed outdoor class near the center’s pavilion at 8 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (weather permitting). Call for more details.
Yvonne Martin, our yoga instructor, has created a Zoom chair yoga session. You will find it posted on the village of Baldwinsville website at baldwinsville.org. Check it out. It will be a positive experience.
Senior nutrition
Canton Woods is offering a drive-thru/walk-up takeaway lunch through the Onondaga County senior nutrition program and PEACE, Inc. The lunch is every Monday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. You must make a reservation by calling 315-638-4536.
The menu for Friday, Aug. 14, includes sweet and sour chicken, rice, mixed vegetables, wheat bread, milk and fresh orange. The menu for Monday, Aug. 17, is barbecue chicken strips, chuck wagon corn, rice, wheat bread, milk and pineapple; on Friday, Aug. 21, the menu includes Swedish meatballs, egg noodles, green beans, wheat bread, milk and applesauce.
