ONONDAGA COUNTY – A big week is in store for each of the Baldwinsville cross country teams, who will host its 70th annual invitational meets on Saturday morning featuring dozens of teams from Central New York and beyond.
All of this is preceded by a meet Wednesday against West Genesee, whose boys team nearly knocked off Fayetteville-Manlius when they went head-to-head in last week’s SCAC Metro division opener.
B’ville had a far easier assignment, able to sweep past Nottingham and Henninger in both the boys and girls races.
The Bees won 15-50 over the Black Knights and 22-39 over the Bulldogs, again with Solomon Holden-Betts at the forefront.
Fresh off his Sept. 10 race win at the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Invitational, Holden-Betts went 16 minutes, 22 seconds to finish more than a minute ahead of the 17:26 from Notttingham’s Henry Zhe-Heimerman.
Jaden Covert finished third in 17:32. Then Jeff Ragonese, fifth in 17:42, led a Bees pack that included Adam Kozman (18:08), Owen Wilson (18:10), Jack McAllister (18:19), Kyle Sheckler (18:27) and Arthur Bauer (18:49).
The girls race had B’ville defeat Nottingham and Henninger by equal 15-50 margins, with Kamryn Barton dominating the individual race, winning in a time of 20:06.
Sophia Cavalieri was second in 22:22, more than two minutes behind Barton. Mary Sabatino, in 22:43, edged Clare Horan (22:46) for third place, with Margaret Solomon fifth in 22:49. Erin Seitzer (24:45), Lily Horan (25:04), Brianna Grosso and Ashlyn Davis (25:40) all followed.
