ONONDAGA COUNTY – An early test to see who would sit atop the SCAC Metro division went against the Cicero-North Syracuse Blue boys golf team.
Even on its home course at Lakeshore Country Club, the Northstars were outplayed in its Sept. 2 match with Baldwinsville, falling 201-213 to the Bees.
Sean Lawler did lead all individuals with a 38 for nine holes, but B’ville had the next best three totals – a 39 from Nate MacGregor, plus 40s from Keegan Lynch and Colin Ray.
They all beat the 41 from Jack Wolanski, which Billy Shipman and Dylan Wirtheim shot to clinch it for the Bees. Drew Kippen had a 43, ahead of Kaeden Hacker’s 45 and Nate Bustin’s 46.
It didn’t take long for C-NS Blue to get back into the win column, the Northstars topping West Genesee Blue 203-217 last Wednesday afternoon led by Lawler and Kippen, who both shot 38. Hacker and Gavin Goettel both posted 42 and Wolanski picked up a 43.
Liverpool had its own match on Sept. 2, against West Genesee Blue, and though it was close, the Warriors proved successful, edging the Wildcats 190-193 at Westvale.
Bradley Cole’s 37 was matched by WG Blue’s Will Shields. Owen Michaud, Dom Osbeck and Joe Sacco each shot 38 to equal the Wildcats’ Jared Jaeger, and Brady Michaud added a 39, which matched Max Walker and Kolton Castrello from the other side.
Then the Warriors beat Fayetteville-Manlius White 192-212 last Wednesday at Foxfire, sweeing Owen Michaud pick up a 37 to beat out Brady Michaud (38) for individual honors. Bradley Cole, Dom Osbeck and Joe Sacco had matching totals of 39 ahead of the Hornets’ low round of 41 by Dylan Friedman.
When Liverpool met West Genesee’s Gold team on Friday at Westvale, it took a 191-199 defeat, with Osbeck and Cole both shooting 39, but equaled by the Wildcats’ Ben Glass and Jason Clifton, and topped by 36s from Ryan Till and Owen Zoanetti. Sacco and Owen Michaud posted 40 and Brady Michaud got a 41.
C-NS Green lost 184-220 to Fayetteville-Manlius Green on Sept. 2 at the Greens at Beaumont. Brandon Marchitto shot 39, just ahead of Kyle Kulikowsky’s 52, but the Hornets had six golfers shoot 40 or lower, led by Luke Weisiger’s under-par 33.
