BALDWINSVILLE – A mere 48 hours after they battled one another at Bragman Stadium, the Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool track and field teams had a rematch of sorts.
It took place at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium where Friday’s Baldwinsville John Arcaro saw the boys Northstars get 61 points, trailing only the host Bees (74 points), while in the girls meet it was the Warriors second with 65 points and C-NS fourth with 55 points.
Doing well in relays, C-NS prevailed in the 4×400 when Dan Henry, Josh Adams, James McConnell and Gavin McAllister finished in three minutes, 33.68 seconds, well clear of the 3:36.92 from Fayetteville-Manlius.
Another win for the Northstars came in the 4×800 relay, where McAllister, Nathan Connors, Ashton Murdock and Dante Melfi went 8:19.40 to top the field, Liverpool finishing sixth in 9:22.69 after taking fifth (3:54.26) in the 4×400. McAllister cleared 10 feet 6 inches for fifth place in the pole vault.
Carlton Garnes had a second-place long jump of 20’8 1/2″ and was second in the 110 high hurdles in 15.79 seconds to the 14.97 from Jamesville-DeWitt’s Nick Dekaney, while Melfi got second in the 800-meter run in 2:03.37 and McAllister
Trevon Walker took sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.57 seconds and, with Garnes, Adams and Andrew Vinette, earned third place in the 4×100 relay in 45.59 seconds, just ahead of Liverpool (45.83) in fifth place.
Liverpool, meanwhile, saw Ny’Quez Madison arrive in the long jump and, with a top attempt of 20’9 1/2″, beat Garnes by one inch. Joe Guindy throw the discus 107’2″ to take sixth place as Andrew Corrigan got sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:00.61.
Liverpool won on the girls side in the 4×400, seeing Kaitlyn Burt, Lena Young, Taylor Page and Emily Aiello post 4:18.38 to edge the 4:18.95 from B’ville. In the 4×100, the Warriors had Mikayla Greene, Sophia Jarosz, Janea Hamilton-Brown and Mia Wright second in 51.57 seconds, with C-NS (54.12) sixth.
Page, Kaleigh Buck, Eva Woodworth and Addison Ziegler took second in the 4×800 relay in 10:17.89, with C-NS fourth in 10:47.11. Page also took third in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.75, with Young (1:04.04) in sixth place.
Burt took third place in the 400 hurdles in 1:13.14. Meghan Moyer grabbed fourth place in the 2,000 steeplechase in 7:56.16 and Hamilton-Brown threw the shot put 30’11” to finish fifth. Deidre Wiliams was fifth in the discus with 79’6″ and Beatrize Gurgol was fourth in the triple jump (32’8 1/4″) and fifth in the long jump.
On C-NS’s side, Hannah Boyle went 2:10.39, pulling away from Jordan-Elbridge’s Vassi Klock (2:13.00) to prevail in the 800, with Kaleigh Bosimenu getting second in the discus (87’9″) to go with a seventh in the shot put.
Kate Putman went 9:55.81 in the 3,000-meter run, second to the Fayetteville-Manlius duo of Hannah Kaercher (9:44.44) and Izzie Sullivan (9:46.67) as Buck took fifth place for Liverpool in 11:29.35.
Jaydin Mackey went 13.01 seconds in the 100 sprint for fourth place and improved to third in the 200 in 26.34, while Marissa Navarra was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:55.97.
Lilly Capria had a third-place high jump of 5’2″. Shannon Brown went 1:14.72 for fifth place in the 400 hurdles as Danielle Crivelli was fifth (17.13 seconds) in the 100 hurdles.
