Remaining undefeated and atop the CNY Counties League, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys bowling team welcomed Baldwinsville to Strike-N-Spare Lanes last Tuesday afternoon and fought its way to a 2-1 victory over the Bees.
Zach Emm had a steady performance, with a three-game total of 675 and a 237 high game. Josh Archer’s 225 game led to a 618 series as Nick Bough shot a 591 series and 215 high game. For the Bees, Jarrod Williams posted a 621 series and 251 high game as Tanner Mento worked his way to a 220 high game and 586 series.
The C-NS girls bowling team also blanked B’ville 3-0, with Kaitlin Antineli at the helm as she, like Mento, produced a 586 series, which included a 205 high game. Carly Lescenski shot a 471 series that included a 169 high game as Mikayla Drozdz contributed a 168 game. Brooke Flask led the Bees with a 483 series and 202 high game.
Up against Rome Free Academy in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon, the Northstars would have a far different result.
C-NS would take a 9-2 defeat in the girls match, though Antineli shot a 630 series and high game of 225. Lescenski had a 486 set as five Black Knights bowlers shot 525 or better, with Rebekah Lubey (575 series), MaryKathryn Weyant (559 series) and Olivia Deraway (554 series) at the forefront. The boys match ended 8-3 in RFA’s favor.
Spectacular individual efforts were part of the Liverpool bowling sweep of Syracuse last Tuesday afternoon at Strike-N-Spare, on both sides.
It was Dailyn McCarthy standing out during the girls Warriors’ 3-0 shutout of Syracuse, making her way to a 673 series, one of the highest totals in Section III this winter, that included a high game of 246. Ashley Hardy added a 179 game during her 500 set.
While the Liverpool boys also won 3-0, Syracuse’s Isaiah Days stole the spotlight as he rolled strikes throughout the afternoon and didn’t let up until he had put together a 757 series, with a 257 high game just slightly better than the other two games. Zak Ormsby did shoot a 232 high game for the Warriors.
Liverpool then would face Fayetteville-Manlius on Wednesday afternoon, and win both sides of that match, too, by equal 3-0 margins.
McCarthy would continue to shine for the girls Warriors as it blanked F-M 3-0, shooting a 649 series and 235 high game. This time, helped arrived from Dominique Cimini, who shot a 515 series (201 high game), and Riley Warren, whose 203 game led to a 504 set.
Unlike with Syracuse, the Liverpool boys did have the top two individual series against F-M as Ormbsy, with a 619 set, and Austin Dearborn, with a three-game total of 568, beat the 565 put up by the Hornets’ Kevin Winschel.
On Friday, Liverpool’s teams would take its own turn against Baldwinsville, and split those matches at B’ville Sports Bowl by equal 2-1 margins.
The girls Warriors prevailed over the Bees, even though McCarthy finally cooled down and only managed a 491 series and 182 high game. Help came from Hardy, whose 435 set included a 167 high game, and Riley Warren, who posted a three-game total of 398.
In that same match, the Liverpool boys lost to B’ville, though Ormsby put together a 249 high game and 669 series and Dearborn got a 522 set. On its home lanes, the Bees flourished as Mento claimed a 684 series, just ahead of Williams, who had a 679 set.
