On Saturday, May 7, the JD/FM Rivalry Cup will be held throughout the day and members of the two communities are asked to come out and support their teams. The student-athlete’s will be competing in softball, baseball and lacrosse.
This Rivalry Cup has been held in decades past, said John Goodson, director of health services, PE and athletics at J-D, but the two schools plan to hold this event on an annual basis in the future. The school with the most wins against each other throughout the year while displaying sportsmanship will be awarded the JD/FM Rivalry Cup.
The schedule of games are as follows:
∙11 a.m., JV Girls Lacrosse, JD HS Stadium.
∙2 p.m.,Varsity Girls Lacrosse, JD HS Stadium.
∙3:30 p.m., JV Baseball , Lyndon Field.
∙3:30 p.m., JV Softball, Lyndon Field.
∙3:30 p.m., Varsity Softball, Lyndon Field.
∙4:30 p.m., Varsity Baseball, Lyndon Field.
∙4 p.m., JV Boys Lacrosse, JD HS Stadium.
∙6:30 p.m., Varsity Boys Lacrosse, JD HS Stadium.
The JD All Sport Booster Club will have the concession stand open all day and we and a tailgate area will be set up at the stadium for alumni to meet and share old stories of the JD vs. FM games.
At half-time of the 6:30 p.m. game the members of the JD New York State Championship Girls Basketball Team will be introduced.
At the end of the 6:30 p.m. game we will award the JD/FM Rivalry Cup. All current players and coaches are invited to attend. Any JD or FM alumni that attend the game are invited to come out to the field after the game for the award ceremony.
