No residents submitted questions or comments during a public hearing on the village of Fayetteville’s tentative 2020-21 budget held Monday night, April 13.
The tax rate established by the tentative budget is $7.20 per thousand of assessed value, the same rate as last year, according to Mayor Mark Olson.
The Fayetteville Village Board’s meeting was closed to public attendance and streamed live online from the Manlius Village Auditorium due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the public was offered the opportunity to comment via email prior to the hearing and was invited to call in during the hearing with any questions or comments as well.
The board also held a public hearing regarding the tax levy override, with one person writing in with a concern about why it needed to be done, to which board members assured it was being done as a “safeguard” in order to ensure the village would not be fined if it were to go over the tax cap.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for April 27.
