Drop-In Tech Help | Mondays, 10:00 AM – Noon: Let us help with your tech questions: computers and mobile devices, downloading e-content from the library’s catalog, using Google Drive and social media platforms! Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, June 14th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend. This meeting will be held in person in the boardroom at the School District Office at 49 E Elizabeth St and online via Zoom.
Anne Frank: Her Life, Her Diary, and Beyond (Rescheduled)| Wednesday, June 15th at 6:30 PM: Anne Frank is possibly the most well-known victim of the Holocaust with millions of people around the world aware of her life in hiding through her diary. Not as well-known is the story of her early life, from her birth in Frankfurt, through her family’s migration to Amsterdam, to the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands, and the time after her arrest, including the fates of the people she hid with. John Damond will fill in those pieces and tell the story of the diary within the context of the war and the Holocaust during this virtual program. Registration required to receive Zoom link.
Afternoon Book Club |Monday, June 20th at 1:00 PM : Have you been looking for a daytime book club? Join us on the 3rd Monday of every month to chat books! This month we’ll be discussing The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. Copies of the book are available at the library. Registration requested. In person only.
Evening Book Club | Wednesday, June 29th at 6:30 PM: This month we’re reading The Truth of Who You Are written by Sheila Myers who will be joining us for our discussion!

Baby Bounce & Rhyme: June Session | Wednesdays June 1st, 22nd, 29th at 9:15 AM: Bond with your baby during this program featuring nursery rhymes, books, movement and fingerplays, followed by sensory exploration. Location: The Children’s Room. For babies up to 18 months. Registration required. Limited to 5 families.
My Neighborhood Story Time: Reading Braille with Ms. Tonya | Thursday, June 2nd at 10:30 AM: Join us in the Library’s yard to meet a very special guest, Ms. Tonya, who learned to read braille after losing her sight in 2020. Ms. Tonya will read us a story, answer questions about her life, and let us touch a variety of braille picture books. Registration required. For ages 2 – 5 with a caregiver. The My Neighborhood Story Time series connects young children and their caregivers to the places, people, and animals in our neighborhood.
Parachute Play | Friday, June 3rd at 10:30 – 11:00 AM: We’re pulling out our parachutes to play games and sing songs with kids and their caregivers. Parachute Play will be canceled in case of inclement weather. Rain date: Friday, June 10th. Registration required. Location: The Library’s Yard. For ages 2 – 5.
Family Craft: Collage | Saturday, June 4th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM: Drop-by the library’s yard to make a self-portrait and rainbow cutout using the method of collage. Children, teens, and adults are encouraged to explore, play, and create something meaningful to them. Family Craft will be canceled in case of inclement weather. Registration required. All ages.
Story Time in the Yard | Thursdays, June 23rd, 30th at 10:30 AM: Grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us for story time in the sunshine as we celebrate the outdoors, sing songs, and pop bubbles. Registration required. Story Time will be canceled or moved inside during inclement weather and families will be notified by phone. For ages 18 months – 5 years.
Elementary School Book Club | Sunday, June 12th at 2:30 PM: This month we’re reading Shadow Island by Mike and Nancy Deas. Each month we’ll read a graphic novel and then get together to chat about the book and do an activity. Pick up your copy of the book curbside. For kids in grades 3 – 5. Registration required.

Explore Summer June Programs
Explore Summer Kick-off Party | Saturday, June 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM: Kick-off summer with messy process art for the whole family! Drop by the library’s side yard to get your Explore Summer booklets and experiment with unconventional ways to make art. For all ages. No registration required. In case of inclement weather, we’ll be inside Library Hall.
Butterfly Release with Winterberry Homestead | Tuesday, June 28th at 10:30 AM: Join us for a hands-on program with Winterberry Homestead. Learn about identifying caterpillars, the process of transforming into a butterfly, and more! At the end of the program, participants will receive a butterfly they can release into the air and make a wish. For ages 6 – 10. Registration required.
The MOST @ the Library: Ocean of Possibilities | Tuesday, June 28th at 1:00 PM: Join the MOST in exploring marine habitats and the species that live there! Discover the diversity of ocean life, the effects of climate change on animal ecosystems, and more through hands-on samples and live science demonstrations with a MOST Science Educator. For ages 6 – 10.

The Fairmount Community Library, located at 406 Chapel Drive in Syracuse celebrates the month of June with a Preschool Garden, Butterfly Garden, a Pizza Garden, Sensory play and a Kick-Off Party for Summer Reading! Each child will then make a “pizza garden” where they will plant tomatoes, basil, oregano, and peppers. Watch your pizza garden grow at home and then make a delicious pizza with your vegetables and herbs! Registration is required. This program is best for Children ages 5 and up. The Lord of the Rings Summer Book Club: Tuesday, June 28, 6:00 pm Coinciding with Amazon Prime’s new prequel series, the FCL is holding a book club this summer that will bring fresh, community discussion to J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless classic of heroism, enchantment, dark sorcery and friendship. The quest continues and the shadow grows.
