SKANEATELES — The 68th running of the Skaneateles Country Club’s All Lake Regatta was held on a beautiful Sept. 4 afternoon.
Winds were light and variable, making for a challenging race.
After having no race in 2020 due to COVID, the 2021 race was well attended.
Twenty-two boats from all over Skaneateles Lake competed, with ten of them representing the Skaneateles Country Club, seven from the Skaneateles Sailing Club, and five independents.
Overall winner for both yacht and skipper handicap was Pete Fleckenstein sailing a Laser, second place went to Kirk Reynolds and team on a J24, and 3rd place went to Bill Spaulding on his Tremolino.
Paul Torrisi Jr and his daughter Ellie had the best finish by a SCC boat, sailing one of the club’s 420’s.
SCC sailor Anderson Heider was our youngest competitor, 10 years old, sailing his sunfish.
Oldest competitor was Bob Hamlin from the Sailing Club sailing a Flying Scott.
New this year we had a Junior course with seven sailors, aged 10 – 14, competing.
Top finishers in this Junior event are all participants in SCC’s Junior Sailing program: 1st Kevin Torrisi sailing his Laser, second went to Andrew Peterscak in an Opti, and third was a two way tie with Tess Torrisi and Ashlynn Johnson sailing a Laser and Duncan Javidi sailing an Opti.
Congratulations to all our winners and see you back on the lake next year.
Thanks to Caleb King and his race committee for their hard work in difficult wind conditions.
