Looking for a new piece of art to add style to your home? Want to know that money you spend buying the piece goes toward a good cause? From June 1 to July 3, residents can stop by the Manlius Village Centre to view and purchase works of art donated by local artists to help raise funds for the Manlius Senior Centre.
Manlius resident Roscha Folger said she got the idea because she helps facilitate featured artist displays and the art rental program at the library and thought people might be interested in purchasing pieces of art — especially if 100 percent of the proceeds from each piece sold goes to funding the many events and programs that the Manlius Senior Centre has to offer to the community of older adults in the area.
“So many people in the area use these services offered by the senior center,” said Folger. “There is already a lot of interest in people viewing the art that is on display at the library … Hopefully people will be interested in buying it if they know it goes to the senior center.”
The sale will include about 25 to 30 pieces from eight local artists, including well-known artists Hall Groat and June Carey, as well as Audrey Decker, Ed Clark, Mimi George, Reg Adams and Folger herself.
The art available to be purchased will be varied, said Folger, and includes landscapes, still-life, abstract and other styles of painting in many different mediums.
The art sale will be displayed in the hallway at the Manlius Library that leads to the senior center from June 1 to July 3 during open library hours.
