Syracuse University basketball’s sophomore center Fab Melo will not play in tonight’s road game against Notre Dome or Monday’s game at Cincinnati.
SU Athletics announced that Melo was not with team for the current road trip, which includes both away games, with the news that junior forward Mookie Jones is no longer a member of team, having left SU for personal reasons.
“Given University policy and federal student privacy laws, we are not able to provide any further details at this time,” the athletic department’s press release states.
Melo, the team’s starting center, is averaging 7.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3 blocks playing 22.6 minutes per game for the No. 1 team in the nation, which is off to a school record 20-0 start.
Jones, a three-point specialist, came off the bench this season to average 2.9 points on 5.4 minutes per game for SU.
