For some, the biggest obstacle to writing is getting past that first sentence. For others, the spark of inspiration might come easy — it’s the long road to the end that becomes a nearly impossible chore.
Every other Thursday, members of the Cazenovia Writers Group meet to discuss process, technique and to critique each other’s work at the Cazenovia Public Library. Members are from Cazenovia and nearby towns.
At their last meeting June 11, member Catherine Nagle said that having a set meeting time every two weeks seems to help in the writing process.
“This group is inspiration for me to actually write,” Nagle said.
While members occasionally attend empty handed, most bring original works ranging from short fiction and poetry to the next chapter of a novella or the first sentence of a new story. Members point out aspects they liked and elements that might need improvement, providing thoughtful criticism.
The group is always welcoming new participants, said member Tom Hayes.
The next meeting of the Cazenovia Writers Group will be Thursday, June 25 at the library.
