The NYS Blues Festival has entered its 15th year of presenting a musical form whose roots of origin grow out of African and African American music traditions, which is enjoyed worldwide by diverse cultures. Significant changes have been made designating this event as a completely open air and admission free festival.
The essential belief underlying this program is that community participation occurs when artists from a variety of musical genres have a supportive environment to express their talent regardless of the socio-economic status, ethnicity or age of the audience. Only when these and cross-disciplinary artistic boundaries are transcended can a community’s cultural vitality be realized.
The festival will provide the opportunity for more than 70,000 attendees the opportunity to see national and internationally known blues artists free of charge.
