On Saturday, October 14, from 6 to 9 p.m., friends and neighbors are invited to attend the bi-annual, St. James Church Silent Auction. The parish hall at St. James will be transformed into a festive and elegant setting for this adult fundraising event.
“To plan a silent auction, the committee had to get an early start on reaching out to local businesses, parishioners of St. James, and the community,” said committee member, Tina McMurtrie. “The success of this bi-annual fundraiser depends entirely on donations from area businesses and friends of the parish.”
Guests will be able to enjoy hot and cold items, as well as wine selections from J.S. Hight and Sons, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Donations of $20 per guest will be accepted at the door, which will also provide guests with an individual bidding number for silent auction items. Auction items include original art work and furniture, vintage crystal glassware, jewelry, electronics, sporting equipment and event tickets.
This year will also add themed raffle baskets to the list. Some of the basket donations include family game night, wine and cheese, pet supplies, and several book baskets.
The evening will also feature two live auction items. One of the items is an original painting by local artist Deborah Dougherty Wester.
