Canton Woods offers plenty to do in June. There is a full schedule of regular daily events, as well as several special events planned this month. Come by Canton Woods and enjoy!
“Let’s Talk CNY Nature” at 3 p.m. at Canton Woods Thursday, June 2. Please join us for a discussion exploring the beauty of animals that help nature and gardens, bees and honey, and small garden resources. There will be a panel to facilitate the discussion.
Summer Open Rec starting June 6! The center is open to residents 60 and older for Open Rec from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays throughout the summer.
National Grid Consumer Advocate visits Canton Woods at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14. If you have any questions about your National Grid account, this is your opportunity to get answers. Our advocate is taking July and August off and will return in September.
Canton Woods Book Club’s June meeting is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21. We meet in the Canton Woods library. Our book for June is “The Rosie Project,” by Graeme Simsion. Join us for vigorous discussion.
News Channel 3 Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar will visit the center at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 22. Mr. Mahar will be at Canton Woods to discuss Central New York weather. You won’t want to miss this interesting and informative dialogue.
Summer Entertainment Series continues at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 30. Musician Howie Bartolo will play your favorite tunes from across the decades. Come into the Center and enjoy an afternoon of lively music. This free concert is sponsored by MVP.
The Senior Activity Group Hot Dog Tuesdays are at 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Stop by the center and enjoy these seasonal favorites. Everyone is welcome. The price is $2.25 per hot dog or coney. This is a fun and tasty fundraiser. See you at the center!
Looking ahead to July, Canton Woods is excited to partner with the Cannonball Run 5K! The race is July 17 at Van Buren Park, finishing off with a jump in the pool at the end of the race. Summer Market Festravaganza begins immediately following the race. Plan to stick around for live music, barbecue and farmers market vendors including local produce, flowers, artisans and crafters. Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation (638-4536) and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $2.75.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Wednesday, June 8, the menu includes chicken cacciatore, served over whole grain penne pasta, Caesar salad and fresh melon. Make your reservation and join us for a delicious lunch.
