ONONDAGA COUNTY – Even as temperatures continued to fluctuate between winter chill and summer heat, girls golf teams at Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool worked through league slates.
And it was the two rivals meeting one another last Wednesday at Hickory Hills, the match going in the Northstars’ favor as it fought through chilly conditions to prevail 149-178.
Tying for top individual honors, C-NS Blue’s Lindsey Kubala and Chloe Tice both shot 36, with Jessica Ricciardi adding a 38 as Isabella Borte shot 39 and Aubrey Pento had a 41.
On Liverpool’s side, Emma Fenwick, with a 39, tied Borte for fourth place. Maddie Turck shot 47, with Ella Foriero shooting 49 and Jewelyanna Daniels adding a 51.
Before this, there was Liverpool facing Fayetteville-Manlius Green at Hickory Hills, where I lost to the Hornets by a score of 190-210.
Daniels shot a 48, leading Liverpool as Melanie Biviano had a 51, Foriero a 59 and Turck a 62. All of them trailed F-M Green’s 1-2 effort as Gabby Dardis shot 44 and Bella Fullmer had a 47.
But when F-M’s White side met C-NS Blue Friday at Green Lakes, it was all Northstars as, by a 176-212 margin, it moved to 3-0 on the season.
Ricciardi’s 40 was part of a top-four sweep, Borte getting a 41 and Natalie Hacker a 46. Andrea Wheaton shot 49, tying F-M White’s Emily Pollard for fourth place.
Before this, C-NS Green hosted Baldwinsville last Monday at Greens at Beaumont, taking a 210-264 defeat to the Bees.
Jillian Bambino, with a 63, beat out Lauren Sisk (64) to pace this group of Northstars, but they all trailed a top-four B’ville sweep led by Anna Falcone’s 50 and Amelia Hahn’s 51.
Then, meeting F-M Green on Thursday, C-NS Green took a 181-257 defeat. Bambino’s 57 was the lone score under 60 as four different Hornets broke 50, led by Dardis, who had a 41.
