Things are a little different for the Baldwinsville bowling team this season.
The creation of the Salt City Athletic Conference has added a new slate of opponents, and new bowling centers, for the Bees to tackle at some point this winter, and the change started right away.
B’ville’s first match of the season was against Oswego last Tuesday afternoon. On its home lanes at B’ville Sports Center, the boys Bees shut out the Buccaneers 3-0.
Tanner Rozcyko put together a steady 671 series for B’ville, with a high game of 244. Tanner Mento’s 247 game led to a 619 set as Colin Ponto shot a 226 game in his 586 series. Jarod Napiorkowski (541 series) and Dylan Williams (518 series) helped out as Oswego’s Eric Carson shot a 689 series to lead his side.
In the girls match, B’ville lost, 2-0, to Oswego as Hannah Pinard led the Bees with a 558 series and 190 high game. Brooke Flask had a 423 set (167 high game) as Amelia Ponto got a 155 game in her 408 series. Kaitlyn Grant paced the Bucs with a 589 series and 204 high game.
Facing Fulton on Thursday afternoon, B’ville could not get a point in either match against the Red Raiders at Lakeview Lanes.
B’ville’s girls took a 3-0 defeat though Flask improved from her first match to a 501 series and 197 high game. Amelia Ponto added a 407 set as the Red Raiders’ Megan Guernsey had 10 strikes in a 280 game that led to a 727 series and Lexi Ingersoll had a 661 set.
The 3-0 boys loss included a 654 series from Rozcyko and a 602 series from Colin Ponto that included a 236 high game. David Hildreth added a 246 game. Fulton’s Joe Benevidez had a 650 series ahead of Jason Southworth (617 series) and Jacob Wilcox (612 series).
Two more matches follow this week for the Bees, with Monday’s trip to Auburn and a Wednesday home match against Cortland.
