Once things dried up long enough for some actual matches, the Baldwinsville boys tennis team played three times in a 24-hour span, beating each of those opponents.
It all started last Wednesday with the Bees taking on Syracuse East, and getting a 7-0 victory. In singles, Antonio Marsallo paced B’ville, getting past Samir Subba 6-1, 6-1 as Max Funicello earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tang Lian and Mark Dickson shut out Mike Lloyd 6-0, 6-0.
Trailing early in their second doubles match, the Bees’ tandem of David Rush and Anthony Pompo rallied past Ehmoo Soe and Be Aung 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Otherwise, the teams of Scott Ferrari-Sam Damato, Isiah Demoski-Ryan Shirk and Kyle Robinson-Alex Taylor each won in two sets.
B’ville also had a non-league match against Central Square where it blanked the Redhawks 7-0, but that served as a prelude to Friday’s second league match against Cicero-North Syracuse, who had dropped its opener to West Genesee 5-2 earlier in the week.
The Bees would beat the Northstars 6-1, sweeping the doubles division as Ferrari and Damato beat Trey Nordin-Abbey and Edwin Hirsh 6-1, 6-1, with Rush and Pompo topping John Barraco and Houser 6-2, 6-2 and Demoski and Shirk handling Barraco and James Coral 6-1, 6-0.
Moving to singles play, Funicello ran into C-NS’s Justin Kegebein and took a 6-0, 6-0 defeat. Marsallo, playing first singles, rallied to beat Connor Millias 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, while Dickson had a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Evan Harbarek.
