The First Presbyterian Church of Cazenovia will hold an installation service of its new minister, the Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Oak, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23. A reception will follow in the church’s Meeting House.
The service will feature readings from the Old and New Testament, organ prelude and postlude by Director of Music Vince Guarneiri, an anthem from the senior choir and several hymns of praise. The sermon will be delivered by Rev. Diane Monger, wife of Rev. Oak.
Oak completed his master of divinity at Louisville Theological Seminary and received his doctorate in Church Revitalization from McCormick Seminary in Chicago. He has served churches in Cleveland, Ohio; Gallup, New Mexico; Wichita, Kansas and Davenport, Iowa.
Oak and Monger grew up in the same large Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas. They fell in love and have been now married for 28 years. Tom and Diane have been very active in the area of peace and justice issues on both Presbytery and denominational levels.
The Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery invites everyone in the greater Cazenovia Community to share in this celebration.
