The holiday season is approaching! If you are interested in a free home delivery meal on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day, call Canton Woods outreach workers at 638-4536. This is a service of the Rescue Mission. These meals are for elderly and/or homebound individuals. The recipient must be home on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) to receive the meal. The deadline to reserve meal for Christmas is Monday, Dec. 5.
Open enrollment period for Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage takes place through Dec. 7.
Art Group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15. This group is facilitated by retired B’ville art teacher Mike Conway. The group will accept beginner and intermediate “students” and will focus on drawing and painting. Please bring your sketchbook and art supplies. New “students” are welcome.
Coffee with the Lysander Town Clerk is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15. If you have questions for the clerk, stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat too.
Open Hand Theater will bring a special program to Canton Woods at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. The event will be a Musical Puppet Review.
Chef Barbara Moul Presents Holiday Appetizers! At 3:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, Chef Moul will be preparing holiday appetizers, offering free samples and recipes to everyone who attends. Please mark your calendar and attend. You will be glad that you did!
Bunco for November is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Call Canton Woods to sign up and join the fun.
Canton Woods now has a medication return collection unit. This is a safe and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your unused medications. You may drop off your unused medication to the return box at Canton Woods from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Looking ahead to December, Canton Woods Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Friday, Dec. 2. Holiday entertainment is scheduled for 3 p.m. with tasty treats and the tree lighting to follow.
Canton Woods is pleased to announce Thomas Henry, retired social studies teacher and adjunct professor from SUNY Cortland, will present a program on Pearl Harbor. Mr. Henry will be at the center at 3 p.m. on Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7. Please call and let us know you plan to attend. This is sure to be an interesting program.
Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation (638-4536) and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $2.75.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the menu includes Hoffman hot dog, macaroni salad, garlic buttered green beans and tropical fruit. Make your reservation and join us for a delicious lunch!
