To the editor:
We enthusiastically endorse Kelly Fumarola for F-M School Board and encourage voters to elect her on May 16. Kelly is a highly-qualified candidate who will bring expertise and experience to the board as it continues to help our students develop 21st century skills and addresses critical issues facing our district.
Kelly and her husband have two daughters enrolled in Fayetteville Elementary and Wellwood, which gives her an important view into the needs of our schools and students. She has a track record of activity on behalf of the schools and the district as a whole. In addition to frequently volunteering at both schools, she has served on HSA as a volunteer and president and is currently a member of both the F-M Parent Council and F-M Facilities Task Force.
Kelly is thoughtful, intelligent, collaborative, and has proven to be open to a wide range of opinions. When dealing with challenging situations, she gathers as much information as she can and carefully considers it, using diplomacy and tact to help resolve issues. We’ve also seen on several occasions Kelly has put the needs of others and the greater good above her own personal benefit. These are necessary traits for any governing board and will be particularly useful in the future as our school board tackles several challenges with significant long-term implications, including facilities upgrades, potential redistricting and the budget.
Kelly is well-prepared to take on this role; we strongly endorse her as a dedicated and experienced candidate for F-M School Board.
