To the editor:
After reading the story about the uprooting and planned repurposing of the telephone area in telephone park, ideas began to rattle around my head about proposed additions to the space. Not to undermine mayor Wheeler or his students, but sometimes outside opinions can spur something great.
I have a few ideas, but one I think would be most interesting for the town, would be a patch of shade for townspeople to rest under to hide from the snow or the sun respectively, with a built-in solar panel rooftop, shielded from the elements of course, and a few areas to charge phones, devices or computers that would draw green energy from the sun and create an outdoor work environment for townsfolk.
You see things like these in spurring communities all over New York City, but Cazenovia parks tend to be more of the outdoor recreational type, I think given the small size of “Telephone Park” or “Town Square” it would make for a great common space for people to enjoy in this nature. Perhaps even build in a wi-fi hotspot for free use by the townspeople, sort of like an outdoor communal office space for all to enjoy. Especially once the hot dog cart occupies the space for those hungry, eco conscious and hard-working townspeople of Cazenovia that we all know and love. Just my friendly suggestion.
