So, as the Blunt Belle, I have to stay true to my name and sometimes complain. While I was contemplating what to do the other day when I wasn’t working, I noticed my car was quite dirty. Then I noticed my custom rims weren’t shining and got pretty heated up. I went out to my car and headed to the nearest carwash.
I chose to go to Manlius. It was closed. Not a big deal, I thought, because it was a sunny day and the radio was jamming a lot of Bieber tunes. I drove to the next closest car wash, which was in Chittenango. Home of one of my favorite casinos, I also enjoyed that drive. Past the beautiful flowing falls, the fresh air on my face and the temporary loss of cell service provided some much needed peacefulness. Once I had arrived, that car wash was out of order.
Giving up hope, I realized something: Cazenovia needs a car wash.
From there my mind was a map of roads paved with Cazenovia store-front possibilities. I love Cazenovia, but we are lacking on the material side if you ask me. Which you didn’t, but this is my opinion. I think we need:
✓A gourmet cheese shop.
✓An outdoor sports/recreational store. This one I will explain. I think it would be wonderful if we had a place to purchase necessary things for all of the exciting physical activities this town has to offer — somewhere to buy a nice pair of Aqua Socks, or snow shoes; somewhere I can get a new pair of running pants or a shirt that doesn’t say “Cazenovia College.” Basically, a place where we can all get things we need to stay active, and not have to drive to Target (even though that’s my favorite store in the world).
✓Another Restaurant, anything would work at this point, but preferably Mexican food.
✓A really good bakery.
✓A cutesy-gift shop, because Kinney’s seasonal aisle isn’t working for me anymore. I have purchased basically the whole thing, and my brother wasn’t too impressed with the “someone in Cazenovia loves you” bear I got him at Rite Aid.
I am fully aware I will get some heat for this article. But what really chops down my cherry tree is the lack of options in this town. I have started driving to outside towns more and more to get the things I need. Yes, I am aware we are a small town and we won’t have any big stores. Maybe some of the people who live here, in this affluent community, have some spare time and money laying around, and could help out our community so we can get rid of the “for sale” signs that are everywhere. The turn-around time on most of the store fronts is a little alarming.
So there you have it folks, my rant for the week. Have fun opening all of your new stores!
