ELBRIDGE — One of Jordan-Elbridge’s Dynamic Intermediate School (JEDIS) teachers has been nominated for a special recognition.
Ben Allio is in the running for NHL/NHLPA’s Most Valuable Teacher award.
“This honor includes winning a prize for helping bring STEM concepts to life for students in our school community,” Allio said. “I am honored to be one of the finalists chosen for this recognition.
The award aims to give back to teachers and celebrate them as everyday heroes in the classroom. Throughout the month of February, students, parents and colleagues can visit the competition’s website to vote for their favorite teacher, once per-day, every day.
Allio is one of 20 teachers in the running.
“I’m dedicated to teaching applications for STEM because I know that it not only impacts how healthy and productive students are during this time, but also their well-being and success far beyond the K-12 years,” added Allio.
Allio teaches fith grade science and has been a teacher for more than 31 years.
He became a teacher because of the rewards of educating children.
Allio said he enjoys watching their excitement and surprise when they finally understand a concept.
