Marian Elizabeth Hayes Bonomo, 94, of Lemont, PA, died of congestive heart failure Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefonte, PA. She was born in New Woodstock to Ralph Whitney and Helen Aletta Dounce Hayes.
Marian graduated from SUNY Brockport with a Master of Education degree and was an elementary school teacher for 24 years in the Fayetteville-Manlius school district until she retired in 1980. Marian volunteered at Caz Cares, the New Woodstock Historical Society and the New Woodstock Library as well as being an active member in the Federated Church of New Woodstock.
Surviving are her daughter, Jackie, her grandson, Duncan of Arlington, VA, a cousin, Harold and Betty Wood of DeRuyter, nieces, nephews and two more generations.
Calling hours from 1-3 p.m. will precede a 3 p.m. memorial service by Barney Freeborn on Sunday, April 15th, at the New Woodstock Federated Church, followed by a reception there after a family service to place her ashes in the New Woodstock Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Centre Crossing Hospice, 2437 Commercial Blvd, No. 6, State College, PA 16801 or to charities of your choice in lieu of flowers, Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter will notify friends and family again in the spring.
