Richard H. Brown, 69, of Cazenovia, died peacefully at home Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer. Richard was the son of the late Earl and Elizabeth Brown and was a life resident of Cazenovia. He graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1966 and attended St. Lawrence University. Richard owned his own successful painting business, Richard H. Brown Premium Painting and Decorating for the past 45 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member for several years at the Seven Oaks Golf Club; he had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying airplanes but most important to Richard was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia A (Jones) Brown of Cazenovia; his daughter, Melissa (Jeffrey) Aumell of Canastota; three beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole and Holden; four sisters, Dorothy Roudabush, Nancy Brown, Betty Jean Palmer and Margaret Horstmyer; one brother, Robert Brown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial mass will be held at St. Agatha’s Church in Canastota. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Brown may be made to the Foundation for Upstate Medical University, (please specify Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Oncology Division), 750 East Adams St. CAB 326, Syracuse, NY 13210.
