VILLAGE OF BALDWINSVILLE – The village of Baldwinsville has hired Timothy Ganey as its part-time codes enforcement officer, replacing Gregg Humphrey, who resigned in February.
Ganey, a resident of Liverpool, has a wealth of experience in codes enforcement and municipal government. He is the former mayor of Elbridge, where he lived for 32 years. He has also been a firefighter, an EMT and an Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy.
In the 2010s, Ganey worked as SUNY Oswego’s fire marshal and code compliance manager in the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and he also worked as a nuclear firefighter at Nine Mile Point in the 1980s and 1990s.
Ganey, 67, will work a flexible schedule with the village and is expected to average approximately 25 hours per week. He will be paid $50,000 per year.
Village moves forward with kayak rentals
On March 16, the village board of trustees authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with Rent.fun, LLC to install a self-service kayak rental service.
Mayor Richard Clarke said at an earlier meeting that users of the kayak kiosk could provide their credit card information through their cell phones, which would allow access to a kayak, paddle and life preserver.
When the user returns the equipment, their credit cards are billed for the amount of time they used the kayak.
The upfront cost to the village would be $16,000 and the village would split the revenues with the kayak company. After five years, the village could agree to renew the program at no cost.
Annual meeting is April 6
The village board has scheduled the annual meeting for April 6 at 7:30 p.m.. Also at that meeting, the village will hold a public hearing to consider the village’s five-year plan to be used to apply for a community development block grant.
