Van Buren — Election Night was relatively peaceful in the town of Van Buren, as all candidates were unopposed.
Supervisor Claude Sykes, a Republican, was re-elected with 1,415 of the 1,720 ballots cast — that’s 99.02 percent. The town board’s Republican incumbents claimed an easy victory as well:
• Mary Frances Sabin — 33.44 percent, 1,398 votes
• Howard Tupper — 33.2 percent, 1,388 votes
• Rick Zaccaria — 32.93 percent, 1,377 votes
Town Clerk Lynn Precourt was re-elected with 1,449 votes and Town Justice Darlene M. O’Kane retained her seat with 1,437 votes. Precourt and O’Kane are Republicans as well.
Baldwinsville-area county legislators Brian May (First District) and Derek Shepard (13th District) ran unopposed as well.
May received 3,474 of the 4,226 votes cast in his race. He represents the town of Lysander and the western portion of the town of Clay.
Shepard received 3,512 of the 4,343 votes cast in the 13th District race. He represents the towns of Van Buren and Elbridge and portions of the town of Camillus.
