ONONDAGA COUNTY – Competition really picked up for both of Baldwinsville’s girls golf teams as the calendar ultimately switched to the decisive month of May.
B’ville Red had to go up against undefeated Fayetteville-Manlius Green last Monday on the Hornets’ home course at Green Lakes and took a 163-204 defeat to the Hornets.
Abigail Mantione shot 49 for the Bees ahead of 51s by Peyton Kowalski and Kelly Nadzan. Dariyan DeWeese added a 53 but they all trailed an F-M Green quartet led by Elizabeth Noel’s 37. Anna Fuller had a 41 as Erin Gaves shot 42 and Lindsey Chong 43 apiece.
In a match Friday afternoon at Hickory Hills shortened to six holes B’ville Red defeated Liverpool 101-115.
Kowalski led all individuals with a 22 edging DeWeese, who shot 23. Alexandra Kerneklian led the Warriors with a 24 but twin totals of 28 from Lauren Wickes and Amelia Hahn helped the Bees pull away.
B’ville White, still looking for its first win of 2025, did not get it last Monday when it fell to West Genesee 142-207 at West Hill Golf Club.
Carmela Budzich shot a 50, just ahead of 52s from Sadie Ward and Marissa Renzi. Dobrochna Jedros added a 53 as the Wildcats got a strong 29 from Elliana Kent and 35 from Sophia Simiele.
Then it met F-M Green on Thursday, a 158-274 defeat at Green Lakes. Budziich and Finlay Denny both shot 67 and Olivia Denny added a 69 as Bella Fullmer (37) and Gabby Dardis (38) led the Hornets.
In a six-hole match at Northern Pines on Friday B’ville White fell to Cicero-North Syracuse Blue 118-176. A 41 from Kate McManus led the Bees ahead of Mia Cummings’ 43 as Budzich added a 46 and Abigail Carr a 48, all behind a Northstars group led by Abby Hildreth shooting 24.
B’ville White and B’ville Red have a match against one another Monday at Timber Banks. Then Red would face C-NS Green on Thursday as White takes on Liverpool Friday at Hickory Hills.
