Northern towns adopt budgets for 2015

The town boards of Salina and Clay have approved their respective 2015 budgets. Read on to find out the changes in your town:

Clay

The town of Clay passed its budget Nov. 5.

The 2015 budget totals $13,415,510, which is a $588,063 increase over the 2014 adopted budget.

The tax levy is $8,535,410, which is up 1.69 percent from the 2014 levy.

Inside the village of North Syracuse, the tax rate is about $13.55 per $1,000 of assessed value. Since Clay bases its tax rates on a partial assessment, a resident with a $100,000 house would pay $58.67 next year.

Outside the village, the tax rate is about $61.49 per thousand. A homeowner with a house assessed at $100,000 would pay $266.25, compared to $264.52 last year.

(Editor’s note: A previous version of this story incorrectly calculated the Town of Clay’s tax rates based on the partial assessment. The Star-Review regrets the error.)

The expenditures of the 2015 budget total $10,661,563. The tax levy is $7,746,598, which is $340,000 over the 2 percent tax cap.

Outside the village, the tax rate is $5.07 per thousand. A resident with a $100,000 house would pay about $507, compared to $480 in 2014.

Inside the village, the tax rate is $1.56 per thousand. A homeowner with a $100,000 house would pay about $156 next year, compared to $129 this year. (Editor’s note: A previous version of this story listed an incorrect estimation of the 2014 payment. The Star-Review regrets the error.)
