On Saturday, Dec. 2, Syracuse Police responded to the 100 block of Maplewood Avenue in regards to a burglary in progress. When police arrived on scene, they located the suspect, Andrew Maddison, 34, of Graham Road, Jamesville, inside the residence. Maddison was taken into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, it was learned that while in the residence, Maddison had turned on the burners of the stove without igniting them, in an attempt to cause a fire.
Maddison was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, attempted arson in the third degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. Maddison was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment.
