Trade group’s leader is also member of Cazenovia school board
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) has announced that Lisa K. Lounsbury, CAE, AAI of Cazenovia, has been appointed as the organization’s permanent president and chief executive officer.
She has been acting on an interim basis in that role since the retirement on Nov. 30 of former President and CEO Richard A. Poppa.
“The IIABNY board of directors is pleased to make permanent Lisa’s position as president and CEO,” IIABNY Chair of the Board Richard MacDonald, CPCU, ARM, AIM, said. “In her short time in the position, she has proven herself to be a true leader with progressive ideas who will collaborate with the board to make IIABNY the best it can be. We are happy to remove the word ‘interim’ from her title and excited that she has accepted the position.”
Lounsbury said, “I am very happy to assume the permanent position of president and CEO of IIABNY. It is indeed an honor to be chosen as the chief staff officer of New York’s oldest insurance producer trade association. I appreciate the board’s confidence in me, and I very much look forward to working with them to advance issues important to our members that will support their future success.”
Lounsbury has been with IIABNY since 1999 as senior vice-president and as president of IAAC, Inc., IIABNY’s membership services division.
Prior to joining IIABNY, she worked in several capacities for Great American Insurance in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. She has been active in the Central New York Division of the March of Dimes, chairing the organization’s Signature Chefs Auction three times. She currently serves as a member of the Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education and the Onondaga-Madison School Boards Association.
Lounsbury is a 1995 graduate of Miami University of Ohio. She received the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives in 2008. She also received the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation from The Institutes in 2009.
A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Lounsbury resides in Cazenovia with her husband and children.
