The Skaneateles Area Arts Council (SKARTS) announced the nine recipients of its 2023 grant awards for arts and cultural activities. Thanks to generous community support, the organization was able to provide grants to nine of the 23 applicants representing a diverse range of worthy projects.
The SKARTS 2023 grantees include Auburn Chamber Orchestra, Auburn Music Boosters, Barrow Gallery, John Gavras Center, Perform 4 Purpose, Schweinfurth Art Center, Skaneateles Library, Skaneateles Middle School and West Lake Conservators.
Last year, SKARTS was able to hold their art show and sale fundraiser, Art4Skarts for the first time since 2019.
This year’s art show and sale will be at the Cayuga Museum of History & Art in Auburn.
An opening reception will be held on Thursday Sept. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The exhibit and sale will continue during museum hours on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9.
All proceeds from Art4Skarts go to the SKARTS grants program.
This year’s featured artist is Cristy Lemp. She is a local artist who is an accomplished painter. SKARTS is honoring her for her outstanding talent and for her dedication to the arts.
Also, many artists within a 15-mile radius of Skaneateles have submitted their artwork for the show including painting, sculpture, metal, glass, wood and fiber. Artists’ entries will be judged by a local artist.
All of the artwork on display at the show is for sale.
Tickets for the opening reception are $60 per person and may be purchased at art4skarts.org/events or at the door on the day of the event.
Sponsorships of the event are also available. All proceeds from Art4Skarts go to the SKARTS grants program.
