DAR members help cleanup

Members of the Col. Bigelow Lawrence Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, participated in the annual National Historic Marker Day, sponsored by the Pomeroy Foundation, on Friday, April 28 by cleaning historic markers. The Col. Bigelow Lawrence Chapter cleaned markers located in the Town and Village of Marcellus. The event brought chapter members together to help maintain local markers by cleaning them, and providing an opportunity to celebrate and preserve history. The Col. Bigelow Lawrence Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized on September 6, 1989 for eligible women from the Marcellus and Skaneateles, NY area. The chapter was named in honor of Col. Bigelow Lawrence, a veteran of the Revolutionary Was and the War of 1812 who settled in Marcellus at an early date. Col. Lawrence and many of his family members are buried in the Village Cemetery in Marcellus.
