Sensory Explorations | Thursday, February 2nd from 4:00 – 4:30 PM: Join us on the first Thursday of the month for a special program for kids 18 months to 3 years. Each child will explore and learn through hands-on tactile play that engages the senses. This program helps to develop fine motor skills and introduce new words, concepts, and tactile sensations.
Open Play | Thursdays February 9th and 16th from 3:30 – 4:30 PM: Drop in to the library to play with our toys and interact with other families. Coffee and tea available for caregivers. For kids up to age 7.
Family Build: LEGO Games | Tuesdays February 7th, 14th and 28th at 4:30 PM: Stop in the library and get ready for a building challenge for the whole family. Work together to build an object picked at random with the library’s LEGOs. This program is for any family with at least one child between the ages of 5 and 8. Children must be accompanied by an adult helper. Registration required.
Movie Matinee | Wednesday, February 8th at 2:00 PM: Set in the international world of Western classical music, the film centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer-conductors and the very first female director of a major German orchestra.

Cookbook Club: Soup | Wednesday, February 8th at 6:00 PM: Our theme this month is Soup! Bring a prepared dish to share and the cookbook/recipe that inspired the dish. Everyone will have a chance to sample dishes from an assortment of cookbooks while only having to prepare one dish. Make sure you come hungry! Registration appreciated
Tiny Art Show: Artist’s Reception | Friday, February 10th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM: View your tiny art on display in the library and take a look at what our other artists have created. Light refreshments will be served. Feel free to dress in your favorite fancy attire or, come as you are. No registration.
Graphic Novel Book Club | Sunday, February 12th at 2:30 PM: Our February book is Sparks by Ian Boothby and Nina Matsumoto. Every month, we’ll read a graphic novel and then get together at the library to chat about the book, play games, and flex our creative brains. For kids in grades 3 – 5.

Looking for a space to knit or crochet and meet fellow crafters? Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month to chat, connect and craft! Bring your projects, ideas and materials. Some experience is required, as no instruction will be provided.
Library Board Meeting | Tuesday, February 14th at 6:30 PM: The Library Board is made up of community members who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the library. All meetings are open, and the public is welcome to attend.
Guitar Concert: Sungmin Shin| Saturday, February 18th at 7:30 PM:
Korean-born American musician Sungmin Shin balances his serious classical training with his deep roots in diverse musical cultures to seek new modes of expression through performance, improvisation, and composition. He has been invited to compose, perform, teach, and adjudicate at major international competitions, events, and festivals including the Guitar Foundation of America International Convention & Competition, Iserlohn International Guitar Festival (Germany), Rochester International Jazz Festival, and many more.
Dr. Shin is a devoted educator and shares his passion for music with students of all ages and levels. He is Associate Professor of Practice at the University at Buffalo SUNY where he directs the guitar program and guitar ensembles. Dr. Shin is the director of the Penfield Guitar School and serves on the faculty of Guitar Workshop Plus in Toronto during the summers.

This month we’re reading Dearly Beloved by Cara Wall, a moving portrait of love and friendship set against a backdrop of social change. It traces two married couples whose lives become entangled when the husbands become copastors at a famed New York city congregation in the 1960s.

Evening Book Club: Olga Dies Dreaming | Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:30 PM: It’s easy to join our book clubs! Come every month or just for the books that interest you most. Meetings are casual and everyone is welcome. The Evening Book Club meets the last Wednesday of the month.
This month we’re reading Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez, a tale of a status-driven wedding planner grappling with her social ambitions, absent mother, and Puerto Rican roots―all in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Participants have the option to join the discussion either in-person at the library or virtually via Zoom.
