MARCELLUS — This year, the Marcellus parks and recreation department is celebrating 25 years of Hoop Mania Basketball Camp.
Camp will be held Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30 from 9 to 3 p.m. at Driver Middle School.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hoop Mania, each camper will receive a special edition 25th anniversary dry-fit t-shirt.
Hoop Mania Basketball Camp is open to students entering grades 4-9.
Registration for Hoop Mania is now open, and we are offering an early bird fee of $125/child until April 29. After April 29 the registration fee will be $150/child.
The department’s complete summer recreation brochure will be available in mid-April, and sent home with students in grades K-7.
Adult trip packets are now available at the Marcellus Town Hall and Marcellus Library.
On Wednesday June 22 for the first trip will be a fun -filled day in Canandaigua.
Stroll through the nine historic gardens and Queen Anne style mansion at beautiful Sonnenberg Gardens, we will then enjoy lunch at Nolan’s on Canandaigua Lake.
After lunch, we will explore Granger Homestead and Carriage House where you will experience the wonder of early 19th century American architecture and craftsmanship.
On the way home, the trip will make a stop at Sauder’s Store in Seneca Falls.
An overnight trip, “Full of Laughs in Chautauqua,” is planned for Wednesday Sept. 21 to Thursday Sept. 22.
Participants will stay at the Chautauqua Hotel on beautiful Chautauqua Lake. Some of this trip’s highlights will be, a guided tour of Chautauqua Institute, with lunch following at the Athenaeum Hotel, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise aboard the Chautauqua Belle steamboat.
On day two guests will visit Lucy Town Tour via motor coach and will see famous sites from Lucille Ball’s past, and visit the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum. Lunch will be at the Tropicana Room (a re-creation of Ricky Ricardo’s famous Manhattan night club), and will feature a delicious themed lunch while watching your favorite episodes of “I Love Lucy,”
The last stop before heading home will be to the National Comedy Center, which will take us on a laugh-filled journey through comedy history.
A $100/person deposit is due by June 10 to reserve your spot.
