The Fairmount Community Library, located at 406 Chapel Drive in Syracuse will be postponing some programs in January due to the spike in local Covid cases. In addition, the library will offer Zoom programming and Facebook Live for several of our children’s programs. Library staff will reassess caseloads mid-month and may resume programming in the library for the remainder of January. Virtual Spanish Lesson – Holidays in Spain at the FCL: Wednesday, January 12, at 6:00 pm Join Miss Patience on Facebook Live for this educational Spanish lesson where children will learn about New Year traditions in Spain. We will also celebrate Three King’s Day when children in Spain receive gifts.
Virtual Music is Magic at the FCL: Thursday, January 13, at 10:00 am Children ages Birth to 5 years old will enjoy instruments, dancing, and fun with music. Tune into Facebook Live and enjoy the benefits of introducing music and movement at such an early age.

Kids will be introduced to all kinds of animals that call Old McDonald’s Farm their home. Information and fun stories will be shared during this Zoom tour, and kids will learn about anatomy, genetics, nutrition, and animal health care. Registration is required. Old McDonald’s Farm – Zoom Dairy at the FCL: Wednesday, January 26, at 10:00 am Register for this special Zoom session where we can enjoy a Zoom at the dairy! Kids will go behind the scenes of the dairy barns at Old McDonald’s Farm. This tour begins in the calf barn where kids will learn about calf care and feeding. The maternity barn introduces kids to the concept of reproduction, technology and nutrition. The milking parlor will teach kids about food safety, technology, and the importance of protocols and efficiency. Registration is required.
