At the Skaneateles Library: New website launched
Next time you visit the library’s website you might notice it looks a little different. The site has been completely redesigned to be more intuitive to use, ADA compliant and responsive. By having a responsive design you get the same experience and content on all your devices, whether desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. “The goal of the redesign was to make our website a place where people can easily find and use library resources—all in one place and accessible all the time” said Library Director Nickie Marquis.
The new website offers improved navigation for quick access to things that are most frequently used like the library catalog and digital resources like Overdrive and Hoopla for downloading eBooks. Library programming is also featured (look under the ATTEND menu tab) with all the ongoing clubs and events getting dedicated pages where library users can find more information and upcoming event details.
Another great benefit of the new website is the addition of new online forms. Now, you can quickly, and easily, submit a room reservation request for Library Hall, suggest a book purchase, or apply to volunteer at the library, all from the comfort of your own device, using the library’s website.
Overall, the site is also much easier for library staff to update and maintain, so expect new content, like book recommendations, to appear much more frequently. Look under the EXPLORE menu tab for the books lists. If you see a title you like, you can click on it to link straight to the library catalog.
While you’re looking at the website, you might also notice that the address itself has changed. Following the trend of other local organizations, we’ve shortened our web address to SkanLibrary.org. We hope that library users find the new website to be a great source of information about all the fun things that Skaneateles Library has to offer. We encourage you to take a look next time you’re online!
