The Holiday season is upon us and with it comes many different themed events sponsored by local municipalities, including many in the Eagle Bulletin coverage area.
The village of Fayetteville kicked off the season with a tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 25, where hundreds of residents came together to signify the beginning of the holiday season.
On Friday, Dec. 2, the town of DeWitt will hold their 26th annual Holiday Lighting Festivities at Ryder Park, 5400 Butternut St. in East Syracuse. Starting at 6:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy live entertainment, craft projects, refreshments, a tree lighting ceremony and a surprise visitor.
The town recreation department is asking attendees to bring canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to the Food Bank of CNY. Preferred items include canned tuna, canned beans/legumes, dried beans/legumes, peanut butter, dinner mixes, pasta-rice-grains, cereals, oatmeal, soups and stews, canned/dried fruits, and canned vegetables.
The annual Light Up Jamesville event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. at the Jamesville Train Station, 6499 E. Seneca Turnpike, Jamesville. Activities throughout the hamlet will be held, and the tree will be lit at 7 p.m. at the train station. The Jamesville Chamber of Commerce will hold a raffle.
From 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, the village of Manlius will celebrate their annual tree lighting at the Manlius Village Centre, 1 Arkie Albanese Avenue, Manlius. Attendees can enjoy crafts, games, cookies and cocoa during this event. The schedule of events is follows: 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. — Story Time with Miss Karen from the Manlius Library; 4:45 p.m. Santa arrives at the village center; 5 p.m. — lighting of the tree; 5:15 to 6 — pictures with Santa in the Gym and a performance by the Wellwood Voices Choir.
Also on Dec. 4, the village of Minoa will celebrate the holidays with a Christmas Party and tree lighting. At 5 p.m. at the Minoa Fire Station #1, Santa will arrive to the party that includes music, crafts, story time, magic, face painting and refreshments. At 6 p.m. at the corner of Adams and N. Main Street, the tree will be lit with greetings by Mayor Bill Brazill.
On Monday, Dec. 5, the village of East Syracuse will host a Holiday Tree Lighting. At 6 p.m. at the East Syracuse Municipal Building, 204 N. Center St., attendees can enjoy refreshments, crafts and carol singing at the fire station, with a visit from Santa.
