To satisfy the cravings of music lovers in the area, and kick off the season right, a Skaneateles Festival throwback concert will take place on Sunday, Aug. 7 in celebration of the St. James Episcopal Church’s 200th anniversary. Tickets will be $15 at the door.
The festival is excited to announce the invitation of Lindsay Groves to serve as Artistic Director for this one-time-only, special concert. Lindsay started the Skaneateles Festival in 1980 as the Music Director and served as such for 11 years. A chance for her to wear her old hat, she has planned the program for this wonderful concert featuring Schubert’s String Trio in Bb, Mozart’s Piano Quartet in Eb, and Dvorak’s Piano Quintet.
Lindsay contacted old Festival friends, delighted they could make time in their busy schedule to come together for this special concert. Musicians being featured for this special throwback concert include:Paul Arnold, violin (Philadelphia Orchestra); Susan Waterbury, violin(Professor of Violin, Ithaca College); Melissa Matson, viola(Rochester Philharmonic Principal); Lindsay Groves, cello (Symphoria); Stephen Heyman, piano (Professor of Piano, Syracuse University)
“I am so happy that these four wonderful Skaneateles Festival musicians have managed to find the time to simultaneously travel to Skaneateles to perform… we mostly met in the 70’s and 80’s, so getting together again in a fantastic opportunity!”
