Village board moves date for Empire zone change vote

The Cazenovia Village Board of Trustees has scheduled a special public hearing for 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, to serve as the final discussion concerning Empire Brewing Company’s requested zone change application on its Route 13 land before the board votes. The trustees are expected to vote on the application immediately after the public hearing that night, said Mayor Kurt Wheeler.

The board’s vote on the zone change application was previously scheduled to occur Monday, June 3, at its regularly-scheduled monthly meeting. It was delayed until June 11 because the village had not yet received the Madison County Planning Board’s recommendation on the issue and the village also had not officially informed the town and solicited town input on the zone change issue. Both of those issues will be completed by June 11, said Village Attorney Jim Stokes.

Wheeler said the village board will give a brief update on the status of the zone change application at its June 3 meeting, but will not take any actions.
