Weather issues from earlier in the season forced the Chittenango boys golf team to have matches against Jamesville-DeWitt on consecutive days.
The regularly scheduled contest took place last Monday, at Rogues Roost, where the Bears were unable to keep up with the Red Rams in a 197-220 defeat.
Over nine holes, Mike McIntosh shot a 40 and Sean Murray added a 40, but three J-D players beat that mark – Joe Shapiro (37), Erik Davis (38) and Alex Katsarsky (39). Beind them, Mike McGinnis and Erik Russell both shot 46, with Nathan Loucks contributing a 47.
Just 24 hours later, the two sides met again, this time at LaFayette Country Club, to make up a match rained out on Sept. 7. But it had the same result, J-D this time beating Chittenango 195-215.
McIntosh challenged for individual honors, shooting a 36, just one behind the Rams’ Deke Burns. Murray managed a 40, with McGinnis posting a 43 and Loucks a 45. Ryan Delaney contributed a 51. All of J-D’s players shot 42 or better.
Chittenango met someone else on Friday, visiting Battle Island to take on Fulton and returning to the win column by topping the Red Raiders 211-220.
Murray and McIntosh made the difference, both shooting 38, four shots better than Fulton’s top player, Dan Wahl. Russell also shot a 42, though, as McGinnis posted a 45 and Connor Delaney contributed a 48.
Matches against Tully and LaFayette will help the Bears (5-5) wrap up the regular season.
