The Morgan Street Stompers trace their roots back to 1972 when drummer Jack Bacon invited a few fellow musicians over to play some “Dixie” at his house on Morgan Street in Tonawanda.
Since then The Stompers have played all kinds of gigs, from small private parties to audiences of thousands at major festivals. The walls of the finest hotels and clubs in the United States and Canada have echoed their happy sounds.
One of Western New York’s top traditional jazz combos, The Morgan Street Stompers will return to Central New York from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at McNamara’s Pub, in Camillus. The concert will be presented by the Jazz Appreciation Society of Syracuse, and admission costs $10 for JASS members, or $12 for non-members.
Besides Jack Bacon on drums and vocals, the Stompers are Tim Clarke, cornet; Mike Mulawka, clarinet; Pete Pepke, trombone; Danny McCue, banjo and guitar; and Craig Hodnett on tuba and upright bass.
McNamara’s Pub is located at 5600 Newport Road between Route 5 and Route 695. Food and beverages will be available at the pub.
