Baldwinsville’s girls swim had just enough points to fend off Oswego’s late push in Wednesday night’s season opener, earning a 48-46 victory over the Buccaneers.
A key to the win was the Bees claiming two of three relays. In the opening 200 medley, Samantha Sidorakis, Abigail Whiting, Megan Eubank and Charis Parker beat Oswego with a time of 2:02.92.
Later, in the 200 freestyle relay, Dana Mitchell and Kaitlyn Martin joined Parker and Eubank as B’ville took first place in 1:51.23.
On her own, Martin claimed two titles, swimming the 200 freestyle in 2:09.01 and the 500 freestyle in 5:46.22. Parker, after winning the 100 butterfly in 1:10.13, earned another title in the 100 breaststroke in a clocking of 1:11.07. Sidorakis needed 1:06.21 to take first in the 100 backstroke.
B’ville appears in Saturday’s Auburn relays, and is back in league action next Wednesday against Syracuse’s combined city team at Nottingham, where the Section III championship meet takes place each November.
