To back up its perfect regular-season run, the Cazenovia girls track and field team added the post-season part Monday when it rolled to the championship of the Onondaga High School League Liberty division meet at Marcellus High School.
Amid cold, wet conditions, the Lakers earned 195 points, nearly double the total of runner-up Skaneateles (101 points), with everyone else further behind.
Paige Biviano set the tone with three individual titles. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.36 seconds, had a top long jump of 15 feet 11 3/4 inches and controlled the high jump, clearing 4 feet 10 inches while adding a fourth in the triple jump.
Ashley Winn and Jillian Vogl went 1-2 twice in the sprints. Winn beat Vogl, 13.09 seconds to 13.33, in the 100-mter dash, and the same thing happened in the 200-meter dash as Winn prevailed in 26.73 seconds and Vogl (27.31 seconds) was runner-up.
But Vogl would win the 400-meter dash in a swift 1:00.29, where Hollie Marcelle (1:03.11) was second. In the 4×100 relay, Vogl, Winn, Piper Gianforte and Audrey Bowers won in 53.02 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of runner-up CBA.
Hollie Marcelle went to the top in the 800-meter run in 2:26.87, with Tori Widrick fourth in the 1,500-meter run and Jeanette Cudney fourth in the 3,000-meter run. Marcelle, Widrick, Ellen Burr and Margaret Wolsey were second in the 4×400 relay (4:19.32) as Margaret Stanford joined Cudney, Marcelle and Wolsey for a second-place clocking of 10:04.60 in the 4×800 relay.
Gianforte could only clear 7 feet in the pole vaul, finishing fourth. Burr threw the shot put 32 feet 6 3/4 inches for second place, with teammate Molly Woodworth in fourth, and also got third in the triple jump with 31 feet 7 1/2 inches.
Raeanne Clabeaux rose to second in the pentathlon (normally Biviano’s specialty) by earning 1,962 points, 99 points behind Skaneateles’ Gabby Eckles, with Sammi Martin in sixth place. Rachel Grimm was third in the 2,000-meter steeplechase (8:38.23) as Rae Tobey took third.
Laura Fitch got to third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.67) and was fourth in both the 100 hurdles and high jump, with Bowers fourth in the long jump. Christie Tainter had a fourth-place discus toss of 74 feet 1 inch.
In the boys OHSL Liberty meet, Cazenovia picked up 25 points, nearly half of them from Pat Dermody as he won the 3,200-meter run in 9:55.08, more than seven seconds ahead of Marcellus’ Ryan Manahan.
Cam Breathen threw the discus 105 feet 3 inches, with Kyle Polhamus in fifth place. Trevor Whiteman tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 2 inches as Alex Downey was sixth. Tom Mackoviack ran the 100 in 12.10 seconds, finishing fifth. Travis Mimms was sixth (37 feet 8 1/2 inches) in the shot put.
