As has been the case all spring, the Jamesville-DeWitt track and field teams pulled far away from Chittenango and Cortland in Wednesday afternoon’s home meet.
The girls Red Rams beat the Purple Tigers 126-15 and the Bears 119-22, nearly winning every individual event with four different athletes claiming multiple events.
Marae Tearney ran the 100-meter dash in 12.9 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 26.9 seconds, adding a top shot put of 33 feet 1 inch. Natalie Mannion had a top long jump of 15 feet 8 inches and a win in the triple jump (33 feet 7 1/2 inches).
Elsewhere, Eileen Cody took the 800-meter run (2:23.9) and beat the field in the 3,000-meter run in 11:19.1. Courtney Ellis was first in the 100-meter hurdles (17.3 seconds) and needed 1:02.6 to tear through the 400-meter hurdles. Margaret Fuller cleared 5 feet in the high jump.
Ameena Dye took the 1,500-meter run (5:22.0), teaming with Cody, Valerie Hughes and Paige Morrow to take the 4×800 relay in 10:38.5. Tearney, Mannion, Linsay Royer and Amanda Tan prevailed in the 4×100 (51.9 seconds) as Liz Pieri and Katy Pieri joined Mannion and Royer in the 4×400 relay, won in a time of 4:13.9.
J-D’s boys team handled Chittenango 102-39 and Cortland 112-29, with Bumkuth Jiak running the mile in 4:47.1 and the 3,200-meter run in 10:09.6.
Tim Kendrick added victories in the 800 (2:07.4) and triple jump (38 feet 11 1/2 inches), and teamed with Will Sterriker, David Salbert and Alex Wilmot to run the 4×400 in 3:37.3. Salbert won the 400-meter dash (51.2 seconds) and Sterriker went 19 feet 1 1/2 inches to prevail in the long jump.
Ira Griffin, who won the 100 (11.5 seconds), helped Sterriker, Eric Semmel and Michael Griffin to claim the 4×100 in 45.2 seconds. In the 4×800, Tyler Petersen, Christian Sias, Dan Driscoll and Max Smith finished first in 9:17.1.
Over in field events, Michael Paul threw the discus 132 feet 1 inch, while Brent Fallon tossed the shot put 41 feet 11 1/2 inches.
