Gaining one of its most impressive wins of the season, the Canastota girls volleyball team took on Mount Markham last Monday night and swept the Mustangs in three games. In the rematch of last year’s Section III Class B-2 final, each of the games followed a similar pattern, as the Raiders took the lead, then made sure Mount Markham did not get too close. The scores were 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18. Continuing her strong campaign, Jessica Patterelli led her team in both assists (19) and kills (seven), adding seven digs. Sarah Willis, Jessica DeNova (five kills each) and Denae Rinaldo (four kills) split the front-line duties, with Willis picking up a team-best 12 digs. April Swanson had six digs. Canastota has matches later this week against Sherburne-Earlville and Cooperstown.
