Legendary supermodel Emme comes to Liverpool Feb. 3 to host an atypical yet stylish fashion show for an estimated crowd of 500, to benefit Ophelia’s Place, an advocacy group for people affected by eating disorders.
The fashion show is called Revolutionizing the Runway,” and its goal is to challenge and reshape how society defines beauty. To achieve this goal, organizers have collected an entourage of more than 40 models showing cutting-edge fashions from Boom Babies and Target. The designs are available at these local stores.
The runway lights go on at 3 p.m. at Liverpool Community Church, 800 Fourth St., Liverpool. The models and fashions are under the direction Ann Marie Stonecypher of AMS Models, Clay.
Emme burst through society’s traditional “beauty barrier in the 1990s, when as a plus-sized woman she rocked the fashion industry as an international supermodel and subsequently as a TV fashion personality. She’s no stranger to Syracuse, having graduated Syracuse University in 1985 on a full athletic scholarship for rowing. Today, she authors books, markets her own line of clothing (me by emme) and maintains a rigorous public speaking schedule as a vocal advocate combating society’s pressure to be something other than what comes naturally.
