The village of Cazenovia would like to remind local residents that the public swimming area in Lakeland Park is currently closed and will not be open until lifeguards begin monitoring the swim area. Lifeguards will begin to be on duty on Friday, June 17, pending approval by the state parks and recreation department, officials from which will inspect the swim area on June 13.
Once the swimming area opens to the public, seasonal swimming hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. June 17 to 22. Full-time swim hours, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., will begin Thursday, June 23 and continue through Labor Day.
Village officials would like to thank residents for keeping an eye on their children while at the lake, and remind everyone that it is always helpful to report any incident or injury immediately to a lifeguard.
Swimming tests will be available this year from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, July 11 to Aug. 18, for anyone who wants their child tested. This year’s head lifeguard will be Thomas “Teddy” Tormey.
